ABOUT OPENBLUSKYE NONPROFIT AI WILDFIRE DETECTION
Learn more about OpenBluSkye’s mission to detect 95% of wildfires in California within 5 minutes, using wildfire detection technology that protects families, firefighters & forests.
WHY WE EXIST.
Wildfires are moving faster, burning hotter, and destroying more lives every year. By the time flames are visible, it’s already too late. Families lose homes. Wildlife is gone. Insurance companies pull out.
We started OpenBluSkye because we believe there’s a better way; a way to catch fires in their first moments, before they spiral into disasters. To protect lives, homes, and ecosystems. How? With the precious gift of time.

OUR MISSION IS SIMPLE.
…To detect over 95% of wildfires in California within 5 minutes of the first flames.
We’re building an early detection wildfire drone system that gives firefighters the head start they need to stop sparks from becoming catastrophes.
We believe that families deserve to feel safe, that communities shouldn’t have to live in fear every summer, and that future generations should be able to walk through the forests we cherish today.
OUR APPROACH.

Nonprofit Wildfire Prevention
We exist for public good, not private gain. Every dollar goes back into development, coverage, and wildfire protection services.

Focus where it counts
We prioritize the highest-risk areas, even if they’re the hardest to serve.

Partnerships that matter
We work with fire agencies, local governments, researchers, and communities on the frontlines

Open and transparent
We share our data with those who can use it, from California wildfire response teams to researchers, to environmental groups.

WHY IT MATTERS.
Wildfires don’t just burn homes. They burn through savings, security, and peace of mind. They leave families uninsured, erase habitats, and force people to start over again and again. We believe communities deserve better, and that hope should outlast the flames. Prevention starts with early detection. Our wildfire detection drones are equipped with high-resolution cameras that scan the landscape and use smart recognition technology to spot signs of fire or smoke within minutes
